DIE HOLDERS

Efficiency, reliability and ease of use are the key ingredients of our building philosophy.

A press die holder is an essential component of a material forming and forging machine. It has been designed to accommodate the dies used to form the parts, and make sure that they are placed and fixed correctly during the forging process.

For over 50 years, we have been designing and upgrading die holders for any hot-forging press. Several hundreds of them have been manufactured over the years, which has taught us to optimize the different aspects that play a part in making our die holders more than just devices, tools to rely on to deal with the challenges of production moving with the times.

Hence, since our early years, we have recommended and spread the use of cassettes, whenever this has proved technically feasible and compatible with the customer’s requirements. In Italy, we pioneered the use of figure offset correction devices as well as hydraulic die locking.

These devices have been improved nonstop in time, with the support of new design and construction technologies. As a result of this ongoing development process, the amount of time required to change the dies is measured in minutes, and no longer in hours.

Although most of our equipment is so developed as to satisfy general forging requirements, with the focus on maximum flexibility, we have developed plenty of equipment for purpose-built processes making it possible to move or disassemble dies during production..

Die holders can be provided with specific features, including additional actuators, dedicated stations and control systems designed for pre-heating and temperature maintenance in the system, or die position adjustment – both manual and electronic.

Distinguishing features of our products

Precision

Our die holders must be precise, in order to ensure high-quality parts are manufactured. This means that each part of the die holder must rely on close tolerances and an accurate position. In particular, the die holder locking systems must be accurately sized, in order to withstand the demanding work environment and all the phenomena they are subjected to during use.

Sturdiness

Die holders must be hard-wearing and sturdy, capable of supporting the stress exerted by the press during the forging process. Furthermore, they must be resistant to both wear and corrosion, for improved durability.

Flexibility

Our die holders have been designed to adapt to a variety of dies and parts. This means that they must be capable of accommodating dies in different sizes and shapes. Sometimes real die holder systems are developed, to make it possible to exchange parts on different production lines.

Safety

Our state-of-the-art die holders can often be classified as machines; therefore, they are designed with the focus on safety, in accordance with current directives. This means that they must be fitted with safe, controllable locking systems, and accompanied by the documentation required under applicable provisions.

Ease of use

Our die holders are easy to install, use and maintain. Their design is assessed and optimized with a view to improving ergonomic efficiency. This means that, at the design stage, we do not just concentrate on achieving the required features, which are quite obvious to the operator; we also make access to the interior parts easier, to support maintenance and cleaning jobs.

Efficiency

Our die holders are designed to optimize the efficiency of the forging process. This means that the dies must be easy to remove and replace, thereby reducing idle time, and increasing the overall productivity of the machine. What is more, our systems allow any setups to be easily tested during machine production or tool pre-heating.
